What Certifications does your dairy have?

All Golden Spoon® dairy products are manufactured in accordance with all state and federal agencies including the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Golden Spoon's® dairy is a Grade A facility manufacturing in accordance with the federal PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) and all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices). The NYA seal and Kosher seal. Furthermore, all products manufactured within the confines of this facility are facility are HACCP approved.

What Certifications do your stores have?

In addition to the County Health Dept. Permits that all restaurants must have, Golden Spoon® Stores are certified by the State Department of Food and Agriculture as Soft Serve Milk Product Plants, and are regularly inspected.

How is Golden Spoon yogurt sweetened?

Golden spoon yogurt is sweetened with a small amount of plain white sugar and/or fructose. Of the 14 grams found within a 4 oz. 1/2 cup, 6 grams come from the milk and 8 grams come from the added sugar.

What yogurt cultures are found in Golden Spoon® Frozen Yogurt?

Golden Spoon® Frozen Yogurt contains three different cultures-- Lactobacillus Bulgaricus, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, and Streptococcus Thermophilus. Significant amounts are live and present in our products. These live and active cultures used in making yogurt are natural bacteria, similar to those found in our bodies that help keep us healthy. Many researchers believe that they play a very important role in many areas of good health, and believe that these “friendly” bacteria combat “bad” bacteria in our bodies. With the onset of processed foods and anti-biotics, many of these “good” bacterium or cultures are stripped away from our bodys natural flora, leaving us depleted in many ways. With the re-introduction of these live, active cultures in yogurt we are able to replenish our systems swith these desirable bacteria.

Do Golden Spoon® products contain Fat?

All Golden Spoon® Frozen Yogurt flavors are non-fat, with the exception of Heath Bar which is 99% fat-free.

Zero, None, Not a One (in non-fat flavors). Ok, so there is one exception to the rule - Heath Bar contains 1% fat.

What are the Ingredients?

Are Lactose-intolerant individuals able to enjoy Golden Spoon® Frozen Yogurt?

Approximately 25% of Lactose-intolerant people are able to enjoy yogurt without suffering adverse symptoms. This allows these people to get the calcium they need. This is because the cultures in yogurt produce the enzyme lactase, which breaks down the lactose sugar that is responsible for lactose-intolerance symptoms. This varies with individuals according to the severity of the condition. In addition, a doctor may prescribe medicine to help this condition. We advise you to consult your physician or dietician before consuming any dairy products if you suffer from this condition.

Do any of Golden Spoon® Frozen Yogurt's flavors contain Caffeine?

Yes. Real coffee extract is used in our coffee flavors, and real chocolate is used in our chocolate flavors, so these
flavors do contain Caffeine.

Does Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt contain any Gluten?

All our Yogurt is Gluten-Free with the exception of our Chocolate Malt, Vanilla Malt, Cookies N Cream, Cake Batter and Fudge Brownie.

Do Golden Spoon® products contain any Growth Hormones?

Golden Spoon guarantees that all its milk products are rBST (recombinant bovine somatotropin) free. All milk sources coming into its dairy facility have been guaranteed rBST free.

Is your Frozen Yogurt as good for me as yogurt found in Supermarkets?

YES!. Although our yogurt seems a lot like ice cream, in many ways it is similar to the refrigerated yogurt you eat for breakfast. Our yogurt contains live, active cultures that are found in traditional yogurts.

What exactly is Yogurt?

Yogurt, also spelled yoghurt, is a smooth, semi-solid dairy product made from milk. People all over the world have eaten yogurt for thousands of years. Yogurt makers add live, active cultures to milk to make yogurt. These cultures multiply at carefully controlled temperatures and cause milk to ferment (ripen). During the fermentation process, the cultures create the enzyme lactase, which changes lactose (milk sugar) into lactic acid. Lactic acid then causes the fluid milk to thicken resulting in yogurt, and breaks down nutrients in the milk making them easier for the body to assimilate.

Does Golden Spoon® serve any sugar-free, non-dairy or low carb yogurt?

All Golden Spoon® products contain sugar, both naturally-occurring and added, as well as milk. Golden Spoon® does not serve any sugar-free non-dairy or low carb yogurts. This is because we specialize in traditional yogurts based on real non-fat Grade A milk emphasizing natural ingredients. We feel that this produces the best tasting and highest quality yogurt obtainable. We endeavor to keep carbohydrates, fats, and sugars to the lowest level possible, without using artificial sweeteners, or milk substitutes. We advise you to consult your physician before consuming any foods containing sugar if you suffer from diabetes.
